Documentation Standards

In pursuit of its aim to aid in the retrieval and re-use of museum information the practice of documentation has generated many standards.

Tension can occur between the local implementation and interpretation of standards and the demands of universality for uniform retrieval. The successful application of appropriate standards to museum information is a core activity for those working with museum information such as registrars, collections managers and documentalists.
